The first wet splash of thick rain,
The crackling, rolling thunder that comes afterwards.
The spatter of drizzle on glass,
A gush of wind beating behind it.
A leaf’s crunching as you pounce upon it in the misty autumn mornings.
The silence in a snowy winter forest,
and your echoing footsteps that break it.
The purr of a content, pampered cat,
The yowl of a hungry one.
the first greeting of a loved one.
A hot pan hissing under cold water,
the slam of a door after a heated argument,
the crack of a plate you threw down in frustration,
the sound of a knife cut into flesh.
I’ll keep quiet about that last one if you do.
